Lace up your skates and hit the ice

Local rinks are open for public skating

Michael Enders January 7, 2023

Skating is once again a go at our local rinks.

Eastwood’s Gaetan Benoit Community Rink has been ready since Dec. 16. The league is also bringing back their Learn to Skate program. Ice time, facilities, and equipment are provided.

Delton, Eastwood, Parkdale-Cromdale, and Spruce Avenue are all participating in Learn to Skate. Children ages 5 to 16 can participate. Contact participating leagues to find out if there’s any limits on spots available. Otherwise, come out and skate anytime at Delton’s Walter Gurba Rink from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on weekdays, except for Thursdays. Shinny hockey brings fun too from 7 to 9 p.m. on weekdays, except Thursdays as well.

At Eastwood, enjoy skating on the Gaetan Benoit Community Rink, which has been open since Dec. 16. | Mike Enders

The fun continues for anyone wanting to skate at the Parkdale-Cromdale Community League, especially on Jan. 8 during their ice rink grand opening party. From 1 to 4 p.m., join the party while warming up with some provided hot chocolate and s’mores. Keep warm by the fire pit and get to know your neighbours. Some skates are available if needed.
