On July 9, Muttstock, the outdoor music and dog festival, is back at Elmwood Park Community League. 

Anjie Robinson, the president and founder of Muttstock, says that there will be plenty to do and a few new things for participants to check out. She adds that since the location switched to the league grounds, there’s more space for the festival. 

“With the new location, we can have twice as many vendors,” Robinson shares. This means more exposure for the festival whose aim is to fundraise for local animal rescues and animal welfare organizations.

And because people can park at the Sands Inn & Suites, the walk to the festival grounds is only half a block away.

Music is always a popular draw at the festival, and this year there will be four bands playing.

“We already have the music lined up,” says Robinson. She describes the bands as an eclectic mix of music, so there’s sure to be something for everyone.

In terms of entertainment for dogs, there will be something for them, too. 

“The doggie water park will be much better with the added space. We’re looking at getting more toys.”

This year, there won’t be the usual barbecue, but there will be a variety of food trucks.

A returning vendor includes Boyle Street Community Services with their pet food drive. Bring any kind of pet food, and any gently used pet supplies if you have them.

And if you’re looking for a pet, you’re in luck. “There will be adoptable animals there that you can meet,” says Robinson. 

The festival draws a crowd, with anywhere from 2,500 to 3,000 people. This type of crowd helps with fundraising.

According to Muttstock’s media backgrounder, “All funds raised go directly back to the animal rescues and animal welfare organizations that participate in the planning and implementation of various aspects of the festival.”

Robinson explains, “Fundraising helps all animals that are involved in those organizations, not just dogs. Last year, our fundraising goal was $15,000. I think we came in at $15,083.”

Seven organizations received the proceeds from the festival. “All of those organizations rely on donations and adoption fees. The fundraiser is helpful.”
