Here comes summer
The school year has ended. School hallways are empty. As a student, the worries of the past school year have been left in the past; the tears of failure and the smiles of happiness are behind me. Another step has been made towards achieving my student dreams.
Summer! Ahead is my vacation, an amazing time. A mere two months, but what joy!
Those are days of clear blue skies, bright sun, forests filled with flowers, the aromas of flowers and grass, and the feeling of freedom.
Summertime is a great time to travel. I love to tour the twisting roads of Alberta. The peaks of the mountains are wrapped in white clouds. Birds circle in the blue sky.
Summer is a season of camping with family and friends. When the bright sun shines above the earth, I hide in the coolness of the forest, in the shade of tall pines with the smell of resin. I love to pick juicy raspberries. In the evening, I usually make a fire. By the light of the campfire, I watch the stars weave cosmic patterns on the tent of the sky.
I love the summer rain when warm drops knock on the roof of my tent. When the rain ends, a rainbow appears, forming a bridge which connects the sky and earth. I like to see the forest at dawn. Looking out of my tent, I see the sun’s morning rays play with the grass. It is a unique world.
Summertime and reading go hand in hand. Books teach me to study, discover, and develop my logic skills. Books are fabulous castles in which stories live.
Summer is a great time to be creative and write. I like to write stories because I can express my feelings and thoughts and share them with others.
The piano is my favourite instrument. I have all summer to practice playing. With time available, I can also create new music. Indulge your talents. Try something new.
Edmonton is a city rich in festivals. My favourite is the Edmonton Heritage Festival from August 5 to 7 this year. I will be volunteering in its temporary location in Borden Park. At this festival, you see and taste the world in miniature. Individuals from various countries present their dances, songs, traditions, and most popular dishes. I wait all year for the opportunity to attend. Join your favourite festival as a volunteer. You won’t regret it.
Indulge in your special summer. We students all enjoy summer in our unique ways.
Summer is a time of new impressions and achievements. I wish each of us will have at least one of our dreams come true. May this summer bring joy, happiness, and hope to all.
