La French Taste opens in Alberta Avenue
We often hear the saying that variety is the spice of life, so it is always good when we have a variety of food options to choose from in close proximity to each other. La French Taste recently opened at 11401 95 St. by owners and chefs Anthony Cucchiara and Julien Dallaine. They are both immigrants from France who have decided to share their French culture with others through their baking.
“Two years ago we decided to open our company because entrepreneurship was really important for us,” says Cucchiara. “Our goal is to offer our customers homemade pastries such as croissants, baguettes, tarts, and cakes. We try to be different by our culture and passion for our baking and pastries.”
Even though it took a while to find the perfect location for the business, Cucchiara did not give up on his dream of entrepreneurship and he remained persistent and dedicated to his goal. “We looked for a long time to get our own kitchen space and finally we had a friend advise us to go to this location at 11401 95 St. since it was a bakery before and was closed for a time. We finally got the chance to connect and we decided to open La French Taste pastry and bakery,” he recounts.
At first, Cucchiara and Dallaine’s main goal was to find a place with a kitchen, but eventually they had the opportunity to open a cafe with a sitting area. They sell sourdough baguettes, croissants, tarts, cakes, birthday cakes, madeleines, chouquettes, sweet and savoury brioches, sandwiches, and more.
You can find their pastries in other locations throughout the city, which gives many the opportunity to try their delicious offerings. They are at the Bountiful Farmers’ Market that is open all year on weekends, and for the end of 2023 you will also find them at Sherwood Park market and Fort Edmonton Park.
The impact of technology can never be overlooked and La French Taste’s owners are using it actively. They are present on social media and encourage the public to check them out. “Follow us on Instagram, #lafrenchtaste!” asks Cucchiara.
Alberta Avenue has been undergoing revitalization and its business community is growing and becoming more vibrant. The addition of a French bakery in the area gives residents and visitors more reasons to explore the various delicacies.
La French Taste is open Wednesday to Sunday from 8 am to 6 pm. You can also visit their website at lafrenchtaste.ca.
