An invitation to every artist who has ever dreamed of showing work to an audience: now’s the time to introduce yourself. The Bleeding Heart Art Space invites artists from across Edmonton and area to contribute a piece of art to the Open Walls exhibit in December.

Open Walls is a wild exchange of art, feeling, energy, beauty, awe, joy, laughter, silence, and the connections and dialogue that arise when art moves or challenges us.

In past years, artists have contributed paintings, drawings, sculptures, photographs, collages, crochet, and carvings. Any piece, including video, is possible to show as long as it fits through the doors.

Artists of all ages are free to submit one piece of art. Pieces should be ready to hang or display, and should respect the diversity of visitors to the gallery, including children.

Artists can sell their work through the Open Walls exhibit. The gallery will handle sales and there is a 25 per cent commission to support the work of Bleeding Heart Art Space.

Drop off work at the gallery, located at 9140 118 Avenue (second floor) on Saturday, Dec. 1 from 1 to 3 pm, and on Wednesday, Dec. 5 from 6 to 8 pm. Work can also be contributed during the run of the show.

As part of the process, interested contributors should complete the online submission form on the Bleeding Heart website or pick up a form at the gallery. A

The exhibit will run Dec. 8, 15 and 22 from 11 am to 3 pm at the gallery. The opening reception will be on Dec. 8 from 11 am to 3 pm.

Volunteers are welcome to assist with hanging art and with helping at the gallery during the show.

Meet the artist who lives next door and many others in December when the Bleeding Heart Art Space hosts its annual Open Walls exhibition.

Admission is free. Donations are appreciated.
